Updating Video Systems

Video drives so many things in the technology and social media world! Whether you’re live streaming a worship service, or trying to make out a license plate of a vehicle that has been coming onto your property, it is the quality of a video system that will be the key to meeting your needs.

Generally speaking, the higher the video quality, the more the components are going to cost. The tipping point in upgrading (or installing for the first time) a video system is to determine how much quality you want to buy.

For cameras used for video surveillance of a property (security cameras, etc.) you need a high enough quality to be able to make out a make/model of vehicle, whether or not someone is carrying something that could pose a threat, or be usable to capture a good image of a person’s face. It should be noted that visible security cameras will not necessarily prevent bad things from happening. That being said, it is far better to be able to recover video footage of an event to give to police or insurance adjustors than it is to have to admit that you have nothing to provide to them. Additionally, cameras in classrooms can be a huge benefit to a ministry, as they provide a layer of protection for both staff and visitors. Investing in high quality, low maintenance cameras and a recording system is an essential element of a comprehensive security and safety plan for any ministry. This is especially true of a ministry that involves children!

For the purposes of streaming events a quality camera (multiple cameras, if finances permit) is the key component of any streaming setup. If a ministry desires to have multiple inputs (live video of a stage/platform with overlaid lyrics or presentation slides) than an additional component will be necessary; a video switcher. The easiest solution to this is to include a video switcher that has streaming capability built in to the device, eliminating unnecessary components and complexity. Another factor in presenting a quality live stream is the addition of good audio. This juncture of audio and video should be included in any live stream setup for the best presentation possible.

Video systems for security or live streaming can easily cost thousands of dollars! However, these needs can also be met with quality components that won’t break a small ministry’s budget by utilizing economical solutions that Kinder Technical Services can recommend. These solutions are tested and proven to provide exactly what a ministry needs in the arena of video systems!
